Toe Touches

This foot skills drill trains players to manage the ball with the root of their feet while moving both forwards and back. These simple elements play a large role in ball control, particularly in tight spaces.

Set two cones up 10-15 yards apart.

Beginning at cone # 1, move the ball forward by alternating touches with the bottom of your foot.

Once you go nearly to cone two, quickly turn and move backward while moving the ball along with you by alternating hits with the bottom of your foot.

Once you pass cone two, follow the same order back to cone one.

Sole Rolls

This foot skills drill trains players to manage the ball with the bottom of their feet while moving laterally. It is a fundamental dribbling move that can help athletes to get nearby defenders and bypass blocks.

Set two cones up 10-15 yards apart.

Line up in a parallel position next to cone one.

Applying the bottom of the foot, move the soccer ball forward.

Begin with your opposing leg.

Continue to move the ball forward with the base of your foot while walking with the opposite leg.

Keep the ball close to your body.

Outside-Inside Touches

This soccer foot skills drill trains athletes to control the ball with both the center and the external facade of their foot. The more surfaces you’re using to control the ball, the more you’ll be capable of handling the confusion of competition.

Set two cones up 10-15 yards apart.

Beginning with cone one, move the ball with the outside of the right foot, then the inside of the right foot, do the same with the left foot.

Put your toe aiming down as you get in contact with the ball.

Keep the ball close to your body.
